Apple Sends Out Invitations For October 4th iPhone Event

This morning, Apple sent out the official invites to their next special event where they will be revealing the next iPhone, as well as more on iOS 5 and iCloud. The event will be held a week from today, Tuesday October 4th, at Apple’s Town Hall auditorium at 10:00 AM Pacific. The invitations include the tagline, “Let’s Talk iPhone”, and the four iOS apps, Calendar, Clock, Maps, and Phone.

Earlier reports  have proven to be true, and that means all of the speculation regarding the next iPhone will finally come to a rest in just one week. It will also be four months after the usual iPhone refresh cycle which would have occurred during the WWDC keynote on June 6th. It will be interesting to see if the delay is from Apple working on something special, or having trouble meeting the usual time frame.

The invitation itself could provide some clues, or you can just take it at face value. First off, the four icon show the date, time, and location as well as the phone, which is set to be the main topic. If you try to look into things that may or may not be there, there is a one badge on the phone which could mean there will only be one phone model, and not two as has been rumored. The tagline, “Let’s talk iPhone”, could also be construed as “Let’s talk, iPhone”, and point to the new voice based Assistant feature. The four icons of calendar, clock, maps, and phone could see new versions heavily tied to Assistant whether it’s make calendar appointment, set alarm, get directions, or make a call all from voice instructions.

Or the invitation could simply show the date, time, location, and topic with an obvious tagline that they’re going to introduce the next generation iPhone. Either way, we will be covering the event live, providing news throughout the day about everything Apple announces.
